The Bannik

Played by Jimmy Vee

A strange presence through which Bobby reads omens about business and loyalty.

Biography

The Bannik enters Bobby’s prison story through a belief in a bathhouse spirit capable of seeing the future. The series preserves uncertainty about the nature of that presence rather than requiring it to be dismissed as a simple joke or accepted as proven supernatural fact.[1][2]

The Gentlemen

Season 1

Reveal Season 1 story spoilers

The retrieved TVmaze record credits The Bannik in 2x01, 2x02, 2x07, all in Season 2, and contains no Season 1 appearance. This is a statement about the scope of that published credit record, not a claim about an invented earlier life.[6]

Season 2

Reveal Season 2 story spoilers

Bobby describes asking the Bannik questions and reading its response as an omen: a pat means good fortune and a scratch means danger. He takes an encouraging response as support for buying the Botticelli for Marco, then later asks whether Eddie can be trusted and receives a scratch. By the finale, the official explanation says the Bannik’s mystical aura has become harder to dismiss as merely Bobby’s delusion. The uncertainty belongs to the story and should remain intact in a character guide.[1][2]

Physical Appearance

Reveal story spoilers

In Bobby’s description, the Bannik communicates without speech by touching the questioner’s back: a reassuring pat or a scratch made with claws. These are the specific attributes reported in the character’s in-story explanation; the profile does not invent a full creature anatomy.[1][2]
