Mr. Lawrence

Played by Stephane Fichet

Mr. Lawrence is the butler at Halstead, part of the household’s established domestic staff rather than an outside criminal associate. His position places him at the boundary between the Hornimans’ formal social life and the disruptions brought home by the succession.

Mr. Lawrence is the butler at Halstead, part of the household’s established domestic staff rather than an outside criminal associate. His position places him at the boundary between the Hornimans’ formal social life and the disruptions brought home by the succession.[1][2]

The Gentlemen

Season 1

Reveal Season 1 story spoilers

Mr. Lawrence receives Eddie when he returns to Halstead after news of his father’s illness. His credited appearances continue across the season, but the retrieved narrative sources establish this greeting more clearly than a separate personal storyline.[1][2]

Season 2

Reveal Season 2 story spoilers

Lawrence is caught inside Halstead when mercenaries invade to abduct Tarquin. He encounters Geoff and Sabrina as they move through the house, and repeatedly tells the attackers that Eddie is away on his honeymoon. An intruder shoots him in the side. Nanny’s intervention allows the household party to get to the armored Land Rover, and the injured butler has to be helped into the vehicle during the escape.[11]

Personality

Reveal story spoilers

The greeting presents Mr. Lawrence through formal household service and continuity. It supports a restrained reading of professional composure; it does not establish that he knows every estate secret or approves of the criminal business.[1][2]

Notes

Mr. Lawrence is a named individual, not a generic Butler 1 credit. The actor’s real-world experience in service is not used as a substitute for a character biography.[1][2]
